I purchased this video on a whim since it sounded like it might be fun. I am thoroughly disappointed with this video, especially for the price. The production quality is amateur, almost as if these women rented a room at their college gym and filmed themselves working out. The lead is practically screaming when she cues since it appears she doesn't have a head microphone. Also there is very poor cuing and very little talk or encouragement through the exercises. There is a lot of "Five, six, seven, eight" when cuing. She also tries to be seductive at times when showing a move, probably to go along with the "Vixen" theme which comes off as silly. The equipment used was a mat, 5 and 8 lb dumbbells. It starts out with a 5 minute warm up, then about 5 minutes for stretching, then there is a few minutes of light cardio (probably less than 10 minutes of cardio, one move involved bending at the waist to touch your toes then standing straight and jumping then repeat over and over). My estimations may be off but I'm not about to watch this DVD again to give a more accurate review. The next section is a hodgepodge of strength exercises - leg lifts on a mat, squats, biceps curls, dead lifts, triceps kick-backs - nothing revolutionary and each exercise not lasting long enough to feel much of a burn. The editing is jumbled so at one point they're doing walking lunges then suddenly they're on the floor doing some sort of leg lift. The music has a hip-hop theme to it which was bearable. A very annoying factor is the black screen between sections that tells you what's next and what equipment is needed. It lasts about 20 seconds or so so you're just standing there waiting for the next move - I spent this time jogging in place or doing bicep curls to keep me moving. There is a 5 minute cool down so the whole workout was about 45 minutes long. In the end, my heart rate never really became elevated.I would not recommend this video at all especially for intermediate or advanced exercisers which is where I fit in. Possibly for a very beginner but there are other quality videos out there for a lower price such Jillian Michaels or Jari Love (my personal favorites). It is definitely not worth the price.I rented this video on Amazon because I wanted to try it out before I bought it. Well, I loved the workout and wish that I would have bought it because it is no longer available. The warm-up, exercises and cool down are all challenging enough to push me but are also easy enough for me to not get discouraged. I really love this DVD.I'm not sure what the other reviewer was talking about however I found this workout to be very good.. I could go on forever. It was lots of fun and the music was great! I really was attracted to the DVD because it finally featured women that are curvy and resembled my body type.I truly don't feel anyone would be disappointed in the dvd. It's worth every penny. I was able to honestly lose 10 pounds in 21 days, I also did walk 2 miles per day everyday. I didn't follow the workout to the core, I made some modifications, when I didn't have on hand the equipment.I've never seen or completed exercises the way she presents them. I honestly look forward to doing them, and that is something for me. I hate exercise. but this dvd really helped me lose weight, so will give an update once I have tried them each after about two weeks. I don't like reviewing, until I've tried something for a couple of months.Hope this review helps anyone who is looking for an excellent fantastic workout, with quality and value for their money.I hate to say bad things about something people have likely worked very hard on...but.....first off I think this had a minimal budget as it's done in a very simple studio with some bad lighting. The music is hip hop but sounds like it was interlayed in the dvd so it's both loud and out of sync. The leader of the pack gives few instructions. The girls behind her are viewed often making errors and then rolling their eyes and giggling. Now...here is where I begin sounding really horrible...but the girls have nice physiques but they are not fit looking and no discernible muscle definition at all. This isn't to say they aren't nicely built but I personally like looking at girls who are nicely defined on fitness dvds...these girls look like above average club girls. The fact that they are not Jillian Michael's cut may be appealing to some as it far more relatable but simply did not appeal to me. I also acknowledge that it's called Vixen fitness but during the squat section the up close screen shot of the leaders' pelvic region was more than unnecessary. The cardio sections are ridiculously repetitive to the point where I was getting annoyed and there extended pauses between sections that lasted too long; after these pauses exercises would begin kind of out the blue...like pause screen and then she's doing lunges but you don't know how many, etc.I can't say this is the worst fitness dvd I own but let's just say I'm glad it was cheap.
