I received this book in the mail today and was looking forward to the exercises that I expected to be presented in it. I spent all of 20 minutes figuring out that the information contained within the book is common sense information that most of the general population already knows....but put in a much longer, tedious format which makes it a boring read even if you were just looking for pointers and not actual exercise moves for each trimester. I mainly bought the book because I thought, 'What do I have to lose? It is only a penny.' Well, I paid 3.99 for shipping and wish that money had been a donation to some needy charity instead, I'll just pretend it was to spare myself the guilt, but, I also bought the book because this is my second pregnancy and I wanted to be more prepared this time, I wanted to have a book on excercise regimens geared towards pregnancy that way if I was stranded somewhere with no dvd player or electricity I could still workout without a dvd. To be more specific in regard to the reason I am so utterly disappointed with this purchase is that I flipped through the book for approximately one minute in my initial excitement to admire all the photos/workout plans I expected to see in the book only to realize that there were a handful of pictures and no real workout plans to be found. So, I told myself to just be patient, I went to the contents page to examine further and see if I was missing where all the juicy stuff was, the first item in the content page that remotely sparked my interest in this regard was 'Exercises for the First Trimester' page 55. So, I quickly flipped to page 55, it begins by basically reiterating what precautions you should take while exercising, then it tells you why warming up is important, why cool-downs are important, then after a page or two about that it finally says in bold print, Sample Exercise Program, where it simply bullet points what stretches to do with only pictures for a few which definitely don't need pictures, we are talking about stretches that we have all learned in kindergarten, it gives you 4 stretches total then in bold it says, Standing Exercises, where it then bullet points wall pushups (a pic given), posture retraining (a pic of a lady standing up against a wall, lunge (with pic), Heel raises, and that is it!! Then it says in bold, Sitting and Lying Exercises, in bullets it says tailor sit, pelvic Rock/Pelvic Tilt (with pics), wall squat, neck roll-ups, hip abduction lying, child's pose, cat pose, which I feel it is absolutely ridiculous to imply that doing those moves would be considered exercise and not merely stretching for the most part...those moves are found in my other pregnancy workouts as stretches or cool-down moves....and this is only the first trimester workout, how is that supposed to get you in shape whatsoever? Then it goes on to give you 2 cool down moves which are laughable....I wholeheartedly believe in people's right to free speech but if I could burn one book out of existence for the sake of the rest of mankind it would definitely be this book. Needless to say, I am a very unhappy customer. Probably another reason I am so utterly disappointed is that I got the book Mommy Fabulous, Complete Pregnancy Fitness and Nutrition Guide about a week before this book and I cannot get enough of it!! I haven't finished it yet but it is a far better purchase in comparison to this....definitely check out that book before this one, thank you for listening!!
